In 2017 I did a 52-week photography challenge. It was a simple format, 1 photo per week, in a prescribed theme. I have 3 children and they were very young at the time so, I thought it would be a manageable thing for me to do. There are lots of different types of photo "challenges" out there from daily photos, or photos posted regularly in various themes and groups, you can also do hashtag projects.
It was fun! It gave me a chance to practice my technical skills, to stretch my creativity and commit to something that would last for 12 months. It was such an amazing project, as it allowed me to capture my kids doing their everyday things, it forced me to take my camera EVERYWHERE and it made me look for opportunities to take photos in places where I might not otherwise have looked.
Now, I have all the photos in a book, and I love to flip back through them and see that year as it unfolds for my family. Some of my favourite images are below.
This is a project anyone can do! There are lots of ideas on-line and inspiration lists for weekly themes, so if you want a reason to really focus ( haha photographers pun ) your photo taking and make an enduring keepsake for your family why not give it a try?
If you would rather I take some photos for you, sign up to my VIP lists here and you could win a photoshoot with me! Please share this link if you know someone else who would like to win.
