Black and White | Balmain Photographer Arabella Futcher

You might have seen my earlier blog post all about colour. Colour is amazing and is an important part of why I love photography so much. There are however times when black and white can really showcase and image. Sometimes colour can be distracting, sometimes you can’t always control what colours are in the shot and black & white can simplify an image. Black and white photography really focuses your attention onto the details the photographer is trying to highlight.

Photos that work well in black and white can really take your breath away. The monochromatic look is highly engaging and causes the viewer to think about why the photo is in black and white when we see our world in colour. When you are out and about taking photos try using your phone app to change some of your pictures into black and white and see if you like a certain picture better that way.
